Congratulations to the RBERN West Award Recipients!
We will be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the teachers and administrators of English language learners in Western New York on Friday, June 2nd from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Erie 1 BOCES.
Teachers and administrators are invited to this special event, which will include a conversation about future planning for the RBERN as well as acknowledging RBERN West Award Recipients.

PLC for Teachers of Ukrainian Students: End of Year Events
|

On May 10th, join us for a special virtual presentation entitled Understanding Ukrainian History & Culture: Providing Support to Students and Families. Presented by Marina Vinitskaya, Resource Specialist at the NYU Language RBERN, this session will give participants a deeper look at the history of Ukrainian culture, language, and educational systems to support educators in their work with newly arrived Ukrainian students and families.
On June 10th, join us for a morning at the Castellani Art Museum to experience the art Exhibition Living Through War by Bella Logachova, works in response to the war in Ukraine. During this 2-hour session, educators will receive a free guided tour of the exhibit and learn about how to bring their students to the Castellani Art Museum in the future. RSVP here by May 26th.

OCM BOCES Equity Summit
The first OCM BOCES Equity Summit will be held July 11th and 12th at LeMoyne College. This two-day event will feature a variety of workshops, nationally renowned speakers, authors, student panels, local businesses, vendors, and opportunities for educators and leaders to focus on creating welcoming & affirming environments, high expectations and rigorous instruction. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days, along with a networking event on night one.
Keynotes and special guests include Matthew Kay, Jose Luis Vilson, Huda Essa, Kesha James and Shane Wiegand of the Anti Racist Curriculum Project, and AANHPI Author Panel: Linda Sue Park, Grace Lin, Susan Tan, and Ellen Oh.
