NYSED OBEWL made an announcement about joining the WIDA Consortium. We'd like to take this opportunity to share what RBERN West knows about this process along with a few other noteworthy items.

WIDA Consortium

We learned this week that NYS will join the WIDA Consortium. This consortium consists of 42 states, territories, and education agencies. As a member of the consortium, NYS will have access to WIDA English language proficiency assessments and screening tools. This is what we know thus far:

Science of Reading for ELLs

NYSED will officially roll out the Science of Reading for ELL on Monday, 24 November 2025. Please pencil this date into your calendar. We will provide details as soon as they are made available.


Translated Resources 

Erie County Office of Health Equity (ECOHE)

The Health Equity webpage contains numerous resources for families that are translated into multiple languages. A few examples include: Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs, Let's Talk About Mental Health, Health Literacy, Emergency Preparedness, etc.
