WIDA Consortium
We learned this week that NYS will join the WIDA Consortium. This consortium consists of 42 states, territories, and education agencies. As a member of the consortium, NYS will have access to WIDA English language proficiency assessments and screening tools. This is what we know thus far:
- WIDA will provide resources, technical assistance, and professional learning opportunities during the 2025-26 school year.
- WIDA assessments and screening tools are aligned with the NYS Academic and Linguistic Demands (ALD) framework.
- The first administration of WIDA assessments and screening tools will occur in 2027.
- Resources for your reference:
We will keep you abreast of new information as they are made available to us.
Science of Reading for ELLs
NYSED will officially roll out the Science of Reading for ELL on Monday, 24 November 2025. Please pencil this date into your calendar. We will provide details as soon as they are made available.
