CHSC Project funding for 2024-2025

This year we are allocating funding for school-building wellness projects. A list of wellness project ideas is provided in the CHSC activity menu below.  Each building level wellness committee can submit up to 2 wellness project proposals. The deadline for submitting project proposals is November 27, 2024. CHSC school coordinators will then purchase the equipment to implement your plan and have it delivered to your building.

CHSC supported PD for 2024-2025

All of these PDs are offered for no cost to CHSC districts.

Leading Change: Empowering Educators through the Science of Play for Increased Positive Behavior and Learning Engagement

This month we held the first session of our play workshop series! We learned a ton about the importance of play and had productive discussions about challenging classroom behaviors and how to reframe those behaviors as communication and a desire for connection. And we played!

We still have two half day sessions that you can sign up for. The December session will focus on indoor play- both indoor recess and incorporating play into the classroom. The March session will focus on outdoor play.

Last week we held the first school wellness networking meeting of the year. Participants shared their plans for CHSC projects this year. Many schools are going to be working on encouraging healthy rewards and celebrations this year.

Please join us on January 9th when we will be discussing wellness communication strategies. We'll be talking about creating newsletters, websites and shared drives in order to share wellness initiatives with staff, students and families.

Class set of Heart Rate Monitors

We have a class set (24) of heart rate monitor watches that teachers can borrow.

These are great for physical education, health or science lessons where you are teaching about heart rates. The watches are adjustable to fit any wrist size and kids love seeing their heart rate change!

Don't forget that we still have a smoothie bike that you can borrow for wellness events and activities!
